Call for Proposals for Break-out Sessions
We invite you to submit a proposal to organize and lead a break-out session at one of the three symposia. Each symposium program will have two periods for small group break-out sessions to highlight instructional and curricular activities by faculty in the Chicago area and to provide opportunities for discussions of issues relating to undergraduate instruction in mathematics and science. Creating a forum for sharing ideas on the mathematics and science preparation of preservice K–12 teachers is of particular interest.

Break-out sessions, which are scheduled for 50-minute periods, will offer opportunities to learn about and engage in discussions on a comprehensive range of topics. These include:

  • curricular questions of what students should learn,
  • instructional questions of how to support students’ learning, and
  • assessment questions of how to recognize students’ intellectual growth.

Proposals for a break-out session should include:

      Title of Session

      Presenters (names, positions, affiliations)

Abstracts (one to three paragraphs) which include:

Issue and/or project to be focus of the session

Format for Session. Be sure to indicate ways in which the session will encourage interaction among the participants, and between the participants and the presenter(s).

Materials to be Provided, if relevant.

Expectation(s) of what will be achieved in the session.

Please check the appropriate box(es) for the preferred date of presenting a break-out session.
