Interact with your fellow teachers and share experiences of developing challenging mathematics programs for all students. How do we obtain both deep understanding and computational fluency? Please save Mar 8 and Apr 12 (both are the second Thursday of the month) for future independent workshops. Come as a group for some departmental team-building. There are stipends and CPDU credits. Mar 8: More French Mathematics . Descartes and Constructive Geometry

Given length AB; construct BD so that the length of BD is the square root of the length of AB. This is the second proposition in Descartes. geometry book.

John Baldwin and John Masley will lead discussions on how to connect this and similar problems to Chicago classrooms. How do you build scaffolds to help students attack multistep problems?
