Coding linear flows on the octagon
Abstract: I will describe joint work with Corinna Ulcigrai in
which we characterize cutting sequences for linear flows
on the regular octagon. Our work is motivated by work
of Morse and Hedlund on Sturmian sequences and work
of Veech on polygonal billiards.
