Random groups do not split
Abstract: This is joint work with Francois Dahmani and Vincent Guirardel. We study random groups in the Gromov density model. We show that these groups do not split and do not admit epimorphisms onto Z. This means that they do not act on simplicial trees without a global fixed-point. It follows that their boundaries are homeomorphic to the Menger curve.
