Toric Varieties
Abstract: We will introduce toric varieties, normal varieties that contain an algebraic torus as a dense open subset such that the action of the torus on itself extends naturally to the full variety. We will start with the standard construction given by
piecing together strongly convex rational polyhedral cones.
