Lyapunov exponents for surface group representations and projective structures
Abstract: In this talk I will describe some numerical quantities associated to a complex projective structure on a hyperbolic Riemann surface (of finite type). One (the Lyapunov exponent) is of probabilistic/dynamical nature, while the other (the degree) is function-theoretic. In accordance with the famous "Sullivan dictionary", this leads to a description of the space of such projective structures that is reminiscent of that of the space of polynomials in holomorphic dynamics. This is joint work with Bertrand Deroin (Orsay).
