Abstract: We will give an introduction to birational geometry and moduli spaces. Besides definitions and basic properties, we will discuss examples including the moduli space of conics and, if time permits, some geometry of it.
This talk is intended to be accessible to graduate students of all levels; no technical knowledge of algebraic geometry is expected.
