Du Val (ADE) Singularities and Finite Subgroup of $SL(2, \mathbf{C})$
Abstract: Du Val singularities have been studied since antiquity, and there are many ways of characterizing them. They appear throughout the classification of surfaces, and in many other areas of algebraic geometry, singularity theory and group theory. I will give an introduction continuing Joel's talk last week.
