Ending Laminations, an Introduction
Abstract: Following notes of Minsky, I will give an introductory overview of the theory of ends of hyperbolic 3-manifolds. After some definitions and motivating classical results, I will define and describe the end invariant of a hyperbolic 3-manifold and state Thurston's Ending Lamination Conjecture. Next week will focus on some modern techniques in Teichmuller Theory that play a central role in its resolution.
