Totally geodesic surfaces in rational homology knot manifolds
Abstract: I will give a construction of hyperbolic knot complements in rational homology spheres containing closed
embedded totally geodesic surfaces. This is motivated by a conjecture of Menasco-Reid, which asserts
that there are no such surfaces in hyperbolic knot complements in S^3.
