Acylindrically hyperbolic groups
Abstract: Recently, Osin defined the class of acylindrically hyperbolic groups, a generalization of non-elementary hyperbolic and relatively hyperbolic groups which includes mapping class groups, outer automorphism groups of free groups, directly indecomposable non-cyclic RAAGs, as well as many other examples. In fact, this class has implicitly been studied by a number of people over the last decade under various equivalent definitions. In addition to basic properties and examples of acylindrically hyperbolic groups, we will discuss how some aspects of the theory of hyperbolic groups such as small cancellation theory and non-trivial bounded cohomology can be generalized to the class of acylindrically hyperbolic groups.
