An introduction to deformation theory
Abstract: Deformation theory is an important tool for the study of moduli spaces. I will talk about the notions of first order deformation, higher-order deformations and obstruction groups involved. As an application, I will show that the Hilbert scheme of n-points on a smooth surface is smooth.
