Etale homotopy theory or: how I learned to stop worrying and love the
Abstract: A brief and incomplete history of topological methods in algebraic geometry will be presented, and then we will build up some of the basic definitions of the étale site leading to loosely defining the étale homotopy type of a scheme. If time permits we'll give some examples of étale homotopy types an application.
