Elliptic Surfaces or: Not So Good Fibrations
Abstract: I will talk about basics of elliptic surfaces. An elliptic surface is, by definition, an elliptic fibration over an algebraic curve. We can regard it as an elliptic curve over the function field of the curve. I will talk about the singular fibres, especially Kodaira's classification of singular fibres. Also we will see that algebraic equivalence and numerical equivalence are the same for elliptic surfaces with a section.
