Topological T-duality and Hodgkin’s theorem
Abstract: A famous problem in topology, first solved by Hodgkin in 1967, is to determine the K-theory of compact simply-connected Lie groups. Hodgkin's original proof was extremely technical, motivating the discovery of a number of simpler proofs. In this talk I will present a new, surprisingly simple proof of Hodgkin's theorem using topological T-duality, an idea that originated in physics.
