Extremal Codimension Two Cycles on $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_3$
Abstract: Research on the Kodaira dimension of the moduli space of curves has motivated an extensive study of the cone of effective divisors. Higher codimension cycles are relatively unexplored. This talk is designed as an introduction to extremal higher codimension cycles on the moduli space of curves. We will review the result of Faber on the generators of A$^2(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_3)$ and study the result of Chen and Coskun on the extremal divisors in Eff$^2(\overline{\mathcal{M}}_3)$.
