Thinking like a Teacher, Thinking like a Researcher: The Future of the MSLC
Abstract: The Mathematical Sciences Learning Center has the potential to benefit not
only students in math classes, but also the tutors and TAs working there,
the faculty, and the university community. Through examples of teaching
and math education research, the talk will preview prospective changes to
tutor and TA training, including utilizing informal action research and
lesson study to focus on student thinking. Because the center serves the
university, your input and feedback to these proposals will be greatly
appreciated.
A meet & greet reception will follow the talk in SEO 636.
