Topological data analysis
Abstract: This will be an entry-level talk at analyzing abstract data by applying topological tools to it. I will introduce persistent homology and describe how that answers some (but not all) problems in this area. Different settings and assumptions will be presented, as the ideas of topological data analysis are very general. We'll end with a discussion of the current directions and techniques of the field.
Pizza and drinks will be provided.
