An Introduction to Model Theory and Categoricity
Abstract: In this talk, we will introduce the basics of model theory and use examples from algebraic geometry to demonstrate notions of definability and theories. With this in mind, we will introduce the notion of categoricity and its role in the describing the well-behavedness of various classes of mathematical objects. Time permitting, we will discuss some geometric approaches to determining if a theory is categorical.
