Some Combinatorial Examples in Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry
Abstract: Combinatorial objects often serve as a natural testing ground to answer questions in algebraic geometry and commutative algebra. In this talk, I'll introduce a few different such objects and explain why they are useful to work with. No background will be required, although a basic knowledge of undergraduate abstract algebra will be extremely helpful.
