Model Theory and Complex Exponentiation
Abstract: The definable sets in the real field with exponentiation have many of the good topological and geometric properties of semialgebraic sets. If one looks at the complex numbers the situation is much more complicated as you can define the integers. Yet, there is some hope for an interesting model theory. I will discuss an abstract approach to complex exponentiation due to Zilber and some interesting number theoretic and geometric problem it raises.
The talk will be accessible to graduate students.
