Cut and project quasicrystals
Abstract: In this lecture on quasicrystals, we introduce the second main construction for them, based on the so- called "cut and project" method. This approach is very geometric, and uses lattices in Euclidean space to obtain quasi-periodic tilings on the plane. The Penrose tiling is obtained by this method, for example.

This talk is part of a series of lectures on dynamical systems for graduate students and faculty. All talks will be at the level of a Graduate Seminar, with the aim of introducing the audience to various areas of current research in dynamical systems and geometric topology.
