Gross-Pitaevskii-type Model for Exciton-Polariton Condensates
Abstract: Bose-Einstein condensation is an active, exciting area of modern physics. Though the phenomenon was predicted by Einstein in 1925, BECs were only first produced in experiments in 1995. A new type of condensate consisting of exciton-polariton quasi-particles has recently been studied along with the more classical BECs of ultracold atomic gases. In this talk I will discuss a non-equilibrium model of exciton-polariton condensates based on the Gross-Pitaevskii equation with an additional dissipative term.
