Cohomology and Representations of Finite Group Schemes
Abstract: Understanding modular representations of finite groups, $p$-restricted Lie algebras and related structures is a central challenge in algebra. Beginning with work of Daniel Quillen, various mathematicians have used cohomological techniques to produce geometric structures which reflect properties of modular represenations. In the past couple of years, Julia Pevtsova and I have introduced elementary represenation- theoretic techniques which refine and generalize these cohomological invariants. In current work with Andrei Suslin, Julia and I use these techniques to introduce invariants which are new even for very elementary finite groups.
