Some torsion classes in the Chow ring and cohomology of BPGL_n
Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss recent work of Xing Gu, building on the work of Vistoli, Vezzosi, and others in computing the structure of the cohomology ring and Chow ring of BPGL_n. In particular, we will use tools from homotopy theory, algebraic geometry, and group cohomology to construct p-torsion classes in the cohomology ring of BPGL_n for p a prime divisor of n, and if p^2 does not divide n, we can further construct corresponding p-torsion in the Chow ring of BPGL_n.
