Vassiliev Invariants and Witten’s Functional Integral
Abstract: Continuing from last week,
this talk will show how the Kontsevich Integrals, used to define Vassiliev invariants, arise from the
perturbative expansion of Witten’s Chern-Simons functional integral. We will discuss certain problems about correlation
functions that remain puzzling to this naive topologist. Such problems were
passed over in silence by this author in the past. We will state them in the present.
