Shadow World and Recoupling Theory
Abstract: This will be a short talk (about 20 minutes) coupled with a discussion with members of the audience about this topic. Shadow World is a way to formulate invariants that use colored Jones polynomials, such as the Witten-Reshetikhin Turaev invariant. The method is diagrammatic and expresses these invariants as state summations using colorings of the regions of the diagram as well as its edges. We are interested in generalizing this theory to virtual links. Other variations on this theme may appear in this workshop.
