Parity Invariants for Virtual Links with Applications to Classical Tangles
Abstract: This talk will be a self-contained introduction to virtual link theory with an emphasis on the
bracket polynomial (Jones polynomial) and the parity bracket polynomial of V.O. Manturov. We will show how to apply these tools
to obtain results about classical tangles. This work is related to current joint work with Neslihan Gugumcu,
Eleni Panagiotou and Kasturi Barkataki.
